Sonidélico Sur
electro · cumbia · psychedelic · dub
Sonidélico Sur is an emerging cross-border duo focused on sonic exploration and production, blending electronics with cumbia and tropical grooves, psychedelic textures, and dub aesthetics.
Born in southern Mexico, the project brings together Argentine producer Manuel Pelliza and Mexican accordionist and composer José Pablo Mejía, who met in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas — where Sonidélico Sur first took shape.Inspired by the cultural and sonic landscape of Chiapas and its surrounding regions, Sonidélico Sur combines studio research, sound archives, and composition with an evolving live performance approach.
Their sound weaves elements of sonidero culture and rebajada with tropical and Amazonian psychedelia and spatial dub aesthetics through live mixing and electronics, creating immersive, dance-driven experiences rooted in Latin rhythms and contemporary electronic music.
